MY NEW BEST FRIEND JUANITA

Meet my new best friend, Juanita, with her two daughters.  She's a Bible student who comes to our congregation, and through word of mouth, I learned she's a seamstress by trade.

Here's a wonderful fact you will LOVE to know about Nicaragua.  Often, if you provide the fabric and a photo, a seamstress can make an outfit RIGHT OFF THE PHOTO!!!  So I tried it out and here are the 2 results from Juanita for a cool $6 apiece + the cost of the fabric I purchased.  She's officially my lifesaver.

What do you think?  Is she a keeper?

  1. YES!!!! I was thinking when I saw your pics from convention how cute your dresses are, particularly the black and white one. LOVE IT!!! I love how many seamstresses there are down here and how cheap it is! She did a great job.

  3. OH wow... Maybe I can have her replicate my favorite skirt while I'm there. Actually, the hardest part is finding the right fabric. Here in CR it seems that all fabric for clothes is this super thin see thru junk or it's for a curtain or bedroom linens.

    1. Actually that's the stinky part...if you want 100% cotton you have to bring it from the U.S. Here, the best I've found is a 60/40 blend with polyester. I highly recommend a site called fabric.com. They have an amazing selection and much better prices than say JoAnn 's.

    1. She is amazing!! I don't know why you couldn't do that. You'd need to send her the measurements too.

    1. Why thank you, Brenna. That back is part wicker and I've always wanted one like that. I found it in a secondhand store here for $5. Super happy!!!
