LAGUNA DE APOYO

Between Granada and Nindirí sits a natural lagoon called Laguna de Apoyo.  It was formed by the Masaya Volcano centuries ago, and is a really nice place to swim and hang out.

So on Sunday, a sister from my new congregation said a little group wanted to take Shelina and I there.  They packed a picnic and picked us up and we spent all afternoon swimming, grilling, and making new friends.  Can't wait to do that again!

  3. Dear Shawn, I'm Lauren in West Virginia and follow you via getting to know Rachel who had served in my old congregation of Piedra Quemada, your neighboring congregation. (My husband and I even had pictures taken after our wedding at one of the restaurants that has a great "mirador" over the lake.) I'm really glad you got the chance to stay on serving in Nicalandia by means of simplifying. It will truly be worth whatever sacrifices you both have to make. When I first saw your blog about Nindiri I was excited for you. I knew an extremely hospitable family that had been in that congregation for years and it looks like I recognized their daughter in your Laguna de Apollo pics. If the names are lined up with the person it would be Mery (green and white blouse on the right) who is the daughter of Brother and Sister Eugarrio. I think you both will adapt very well there. Maybe a bit more rural territory and thus more walking than in Granada, but then again maybe not. Masaya is close by and provides a great place to buy fruit and veggies in the market. We always loved to eat in the "comedor" that was on a corner near the Pali in the Central Park of Masaya. Anyway, I certainly pray that you both are able to stay for many more years. If the Eugarrio family is still there please give them my love. Yo soy la amiga de Rogelia Sanchez que es bien chela que se caso con Lester Lozano. I think they'll remember me by that description. ;-) Lauren Baker de Lozano in West Virginia
