SUPERMAN NEED NOT APPLY

FYI guys, I recently added a page to this blog with a long-ish summary of my journey to becoming a need greater.  It holds the same title as this blog post and can be found just under the title next to the word "home."  Check it out and let me know your comments.

  1. Hi Shawn,
My name is Jenni Waller. I actually knew Sheila a long time ago:-), I did leave her a comment also but I don't know how to reach her. I am writing in response to your post (last January) to all potential need greaters! We are interested! We have 2 weeks this spring!:-) We don't really speak Spanish, I try:-), but English would be best for us:-) Does the congregation in San Juan Del Sur still need help with the memorial invitation this year? If you have any suggestions I would love and appreciate them:-) my email is jenniwaller1976@gmail.com. Thank you!
We LOVED your page about your journey to Nicaragua. What a wonderful example for our children, we read it to them:-) Thank you!
    Jennifer

    1. Jennifer, check your email. SJDS definitely still needs help because they're still just a group, not a cong yet. Suggestions? Look under "Follow Friends" to the right of my blog. On the bog "My Journey" there's a section for "So You Want To Be a Need Greater" which has great tips and FAQs

  2. Hi Shawn-
My name is Anna Crowley. My husband, Stephen, and I are very interested in finding out more information regarding serving in the English in Nicaragua. We are both pioneering and he is an Elder. We'd like to visit for 3 weeks in February with the idea of serving there long term. We'd like to check out SJDS, Leon and Granada. Any contact info you could give us for those areas would be much appreciated. Any info about renting/staying at a place for 3 weeks, transportation, etc., would be super helpful. Thank you so much and we look forward to hearing from you. My email address is songcrowley@hotmail.com.

    1. Thanks so much for your words of encouragement, Colline. You're right! I do need to take more snaps of myself. I figured you guys were sick of them by now :) The people here in Nindiri respond really well to anything about the Bible--something that's notable about practically everywhere in Nicaragua. Oh, and congratulations on reaching your pioneering goal; you're going to love Pioneer School!

  4. Hello Shawn,

I'm not sure if I've asked you this already, but I was wondering if you'd be willing to share with me cost of living info. I've seen websites with general information for expats, but I'm looking for about how much I'd need to consider saving to stay for a month.

Thank you. My name is Jasmine and my email address is jasjobro@gmail.com

  5. I don't like this title, it implies something about Superman that I don't like :-P

    1. True. Maybe I should rephrase....Superman is ONLY permitted to apply to be a need greater if he then serves in Nindiri, Nicaragua and promptly marries me :)

    1. Thank you, Bobbie! I hope you're able to reach your goals. Regarding English, I've never actually served with them here but I'm trying to get some info on where need currently is for a future blog post. It seems a lot of readers are asking about specifically English and specifically during Memorial season.
